The founder, Mr. Raghunandan Kamath’s childhood days were largely spent in mango orchids. That is where he learnt to pick, pluck, sort, and preserve the juiciest mangoes of the season, while he helped his father who was a fruit vendor. This allowed him to understand the difference between the ripe and not-so-ripe mangoes at a really young age. Soon he developed a passion for learning about all kinds of fruits. In 1984, Raghunandan Kamath, driven by his visionary spirit, transformed his love for crafting delicious fruity desserts into reality. With a deep appreciation for simple ingredients, he established Naturals Ice Cream in Mumbai, laying the foundation for an ice cream legacy destined to become a household name in India.
From Fruit Carts to Iconic Parlours
Mr. RS Kamath’s idea was clear. He believed that if people enjoyed fruit flavoured ice creams, why wouldn’t they like ice creams made with real fruits! He had strong faith in his idea, which is why he soon left his family businesses and moved to Mumbai. However, after moving to the city of dreams, he became a little sceptical. Which is why he decided to first test out his idea by selling Pav Bhaji as his main dish, alongside his artisanal ice creams on the side. And as expected, his delicious ice creams were super hit. In fact, his little eatery was titled as the ‘ice cream of Juhu scheme’ by the local people of Mumbai.
