Small pieces of tender coconut, the crunch of Anjeer, fresh chunks of mango – when customers visit Naturals Ice Cream and take their first bite – we notice that their first reaction is a wide smile, one derived from biting into a piece of fruit! We live in a world where so many food products are commercialized with additives and we almost miss eating foods the way it should be!
For the longest time when consumers craved iced treats – they would often purchase ice creams that were fruit flavoured – there was always a gap of having a product made with actual fruit itself.
This is when our founder R S Kamath walked into the industry and changed the game. Belonging to a simple home where his father was a fruit vendor, as a child he spent a lot of time understanding the world of fruits. He understands their seasons, flavours and versatility. He converted his curiosity into reality and moved to the city of dreams where he set up his first business – a pav bhaji stall with a side of fruit ice cream. These types of ice cream were made with natural fruit, milk and sugar. RS Kamath started off with 12 flavours and today we have 100+ flavours.
At Naturals, the seasonal fruits are bought fresh in bulk with only the best quality ones being chosen for our product. All these fruits are peeled manually, deseeded by hand, chopped and pureed. Similarly for flavours that have dry fruits, freshly bought dry fruits are peeled, crushed and pulped.
India is known for its diverse seasons and soil and there is an abundance of fruits grown on our lands. Our goal at Naturals is to support local produce as much as possible. Our Chickoo Ice Cream is made with sweet pulpy chickoos sourced from Gholvad in Maharashtra. These chickoos are particularly famous for the calcium rich soil it grows in, after all we do believe that our customers deserve nothing but the best quality of fruit. Our Sitaphal Ice Cream is made with India’s custard apple. While absolutely indulgent, so many of us refrain from buying it because of the process of peeling each part and eating it. But at Naturals, we wanted to bring back the fun of enjoying this fruit minus the effort of peeling it and our Sitaphal Ice Cream tastes just like eating a big pulpy fruit. Sourced from Saswad, a region in Maharashtra renowned for this fruit, this ice cream is brought to the factory and deseeded in a custom crafted machine created just for this flavour. We want to make sure our ice creams provide maximum happiness and nostalgia! For our Tender Coconut Ice Cream that is made with tender coconut malai, our tender coconuts are sourced from Kerala and Karnataka. Naturals pioneered this flavour in the country and this easily goes down as one of our classics. The jackfruit for our summer season Jackfruit Ice Cream is sourced from Andhra Pradesh and the Konkan region for these are filled with flavour! Incidentally, this ice cream flavour is our founder’s favourite too. Our all-rounder Lychee Ice Cream is made with pulpy lychees sourced from Muzaffarpur and Calcutta and for our seasonal blushing Pink Guava flavour, our pink guavas are sourced from the famed city of Allahabad.
If there are two fruits that almost every Indian looks forward to without fail, every single year is the king of fruits, the mighty mango and the winter smitten strawberry. Our Mango Ice Cream is made with mangoes sourced from Ratnagiri giving it that nostalgic rich flavour and our Strawberry Ice Cream is made with sweet and tart produce from the renowned fields of Mahabaleshwar.
Amongst the fresh fruit we source internationally are our kiwis for our Kiwi Pineapple Ice Cream. Each scoop brings together India and New Zealand harmoniously. This ice cream flavour is made with kiwis from New Zealand and Pineapples from South India! It is tangy, zingy and sweet!
So, any time you pick Naturals to be your midnight sweet cravings fix or your post lunch reward, know that only the best fruits go into each scoop of the best ice cream!
